140 Classroom Hours w/ a Clinical Externship For students who want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare. This program trains students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Includes hands on labs and a clinical extern- ship opportunity at a local healthcare provider. To be eligible for clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the 140 hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements. Note: Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination. Course Contact Hours: 140 hours + Clinical Externship Student Tuition: $2,599 (Textbooks included) Clinical Externship Hours: 160 hours

Gray-New Gloucester Adult & Community Education is pleased to announce a new partnership with Marshwood Center in Lewiston.  This partnership allows us to offer our CNA course for $400 and allows our students to train at the beautiful Marshwood center in Lewiston.  Our CNA program is a state approved 180 hour course designed to prepare students for the state certified nurses assistant exam and the rigors of working in the field. Students interested in the program need to contact GNG Adult Education as soon as possible to obtain an information packet and schedule a CASAS exam. 

Schedule: Next class begins in January or February of 2018! 

Fee: $400.00

Includes all books, testing fees, CPR/First Aid and background check

Intro to Phlebotomy Interest

In this 36 hour course, students will learn the skills necessary to become a great phlebotomist in a variety of healthcare settings. Successful students will be presented with a certificate of completion as well as guidance on applying for employment and the requirements for obtaining a full Phlebotomy Technician Certification through ASCP.

Sensing that something has to shift to allow an economic transformation? Curious about cooperatives models of business? Cooperative models have been around for a long times but they are also a key to future job creation and the emerging economy. In this two day course, you will learn about the history of cooperatives, new economy approaches to cooperatives, different forms cooperatives take, and some of the group leadership skills needed for them. We will explore the international guiding principles of cooperatives, discover some large scale real-world examples and some small business ones too. Your questions are welcome and your ideas for cooperative projects as well. Coffee and tea provided. Indoor picnic lunch each day. Please bring a potluck dish to share.
