While you may not feel like a chemist, if you have spent any time cooking, you already have experience. Join us to learn how to spherify liquids into tiny caviar beads and make your own marshmallows in the lab! Spherification is a culinary process that employs sodium alginate and calcium chloride to shape a liquid into spheres. They will ‘pop’ in your mouth when you bite into them! Come check out the new high school chemistry lab and learn how science can be yummy!

Fermentation Series: Flavored Kombucha

In this series, you will learn about making the popular, nourishing and probiotic beverage Kombucha. In the first class, we will make a batch blending green and black teas in a primary fermentation process. All participants will receive a SCOBY (symbiotic community of bacterial and yeast) to work with at home, and a recipe.

Healthier Snacking

Learn some simple, no cook recipes for lower sugar/ high nutrition “on the go” snacking. A small amount of preparation of simple snacks and dips will have you ready to snack healthfully throughout your day. Focusing on reducing refined sugar and increasing nutrition through naturally sweet, high nutrition snacks helps support less food cravings, mood fluctuations, and foggy brain. Participants will leave with recipes and sample snacks to get started.

Winter Canning

Winter is a great time to can your frozen harvest. It warms up the kitchen and it humidifies the air. In this class, we will be making a no-fuss red sauce from frozen tomatoes and can it using the water bath canning method.
